Handcrafting practical tools such as cleavers and knives is our passion and we pride ourselves on bringing you the best.
This particular piece from the hands of our colleague Ondra boasts a blade made from high quality 14 260 carbon steel. It is hardened to 58 HRC, so you can rest assured that whether you’re wielding it on your outdoor adventures, working in the garden, or in the kitchen breaking bones, you will always be able to fully rely on it thanks to its quality craftsmanship! Please note that after use (like any other steel tool) it should be dried and a film of oil or grease applied to the surface (for this purpose, conventional cooking oil or lard will suffice) to prevent possible degradation.
The handle is made of G-10, a composite material. G-10 is produced by layering a laminate of glass fibre soaked in epoxy resin which is then bonded together using heat and high pressure. This process produces a virtually immortal material that is not subject to degradation due to natural influences and, unlike wood it does not rot or crack. Moreover, it is decorated with a texture that is reminiscent of the knives used by prehistoric people who made their tools from flint, which gave them an unmistakable rough-looking character.
The cleaver comes complete with an elegant, hand-stitched sheath made from quality cowhide leather. The sheath fits perfectly and protects the blade until the moment you take it in your hands to work with it.
Together, the cleaver and the sheath form a beautiful set that will surely please you or a person you would like to gift it to.
