Brooches are wonderful accessories that underline the personality of their wearer. If you are looking for something truly special, this is the piece for you.

Made from a combination of sterling silver and steel, this piece is a fusion of seemingly crude metalwork and fine jewellery making. Its dominant feature are hand-forged nails riveted to the silver base that lines their shape. Thanks to the workmanship of our colleague Alena Štukavcová Doležalová, these two seemingly disparate components come together to form one harmonious whole. A combination of true craftsmanship, imagination and attention to detail.

Whether you decorate a formal suit with the brooch or use it for everyday wear it will always look right and you will never fail to be delighted by the skill of its creator.

The brooch is made of 925 sterling silver (8.2g) and steel.

Hefaistos Family Silver Collection

The Hefaistos Family silver collection is based on a collaboration between jewellers and metalsmiths. It combines black, dark iron with the white brightness of silver through fire and honest handwork. Hefaistos Family jewellery blends hardness and vigour with softness and attention to detail. The two metals; malleable silver and durable iron, alternate in their function as support and decoration.

The chains and clasps are handmade, seemingly only roughly worked and misshaped. This finish however, occurs only after they have been carefully made and inspected. The apparent sloppiness is merely an aesthetic element.

This makes the individual pieces of jewellery unreproducible; they are unique originals. Only variants of the original pieces are possible each possessing a unique character.

The Hephaistos Family Silver collection can be divided along three lines:

• Silver jewellery, complemented by iron, processed by blacksmiths. Nail heads and spikes set in silver, bracelet and ring hoops, pendants, brooches.
• Jewellery with iron artefacts, modified with files and cutters into shapes different from the original, e.g. – the head of a nail embedded into a gem stone and ground down.
• Minimalist silver jewellery, characterised by simplicity and exploiting the contrast between rough and smooth surfaces.

An exception in the collection is a bracelet with an old rusty key. It is the only piece where an old corroded artifact is used. It hints at the old tradition of the locksmith’s craft, variations are possible.

The Hefaistos Family silver jewellery collection is dedicated to men, but we also count on the fact that its straightforwardness will not only appeal to them.
